DISSAPOINTING
Derrick Rose….one and done. Kevin Love….one and done. Michael Beasley….one and done. And they aren’t the only ones. I get it. These dudes want to get that paper. They don’t want to risk injury. The odds that their stock will get much higher? –Slim.
But as a college basketball fan I am truly disappointed.
How exciting would it have been come November if you knew that the Memphis squad was still in tact and looking to avenge that embarrassing collapse in the final moments of the national championship game? Aren’t you at all curious about Kevin Love’s ability to dominate the collegiate paint for another year? To have the question: “Is he really that good?” answered? I mean, wouldn’t you like to see Love’s big caboose develop…and observe him put on a little more muscle? Goodbye Brandon Rush (although not a freshman). Now the only recognizable player from the 2008 National Champions is that tall white dude. Wait, WHICH one?
I’m disappointed that I’ll have to spend the 2009 season with a new crop of fabulous freshmen that get hyped all year long only to bolt because clearly there aren’t already enough superstars in the NBA.
So many great rivalries that will never mature. My fandom…stunted. It’s like a year long one nightstand. And I don’t mean that in the good way.
I guess this makes me a selfish sports fan. -I wouldn’t have it any other way.
