The end of this game was the most fantastic moment of my weekend! Is it bad or pathetic that I admit that? Who cares. Bill Belichick finally doing himself in is a moment to be savored…cherished, if you will!! I can even hear a hint of glee in the voices of the sportscasters as they dissect that horrific ill advised decision! They’ll never admit it, but they’re enjoying this too. Ooooooh I love it!
And did you see Belichick’s “bodyguard” knock down the camera guy on the way to the exit?
-Now that sh*t was ridiculous. SMH.

A study by the Center for Responsive Politics finds that out of the 535 members of the Senate and House of Representatives, 237 of them are millionaires. That means millionaires make up 44 percent of the members of Congress, compared to just 1 percent of all Americans. That’s a lot more millionaires!”

- A Few People in Congress Aren’t Millionaires — Daily Intel (via peterwknox)

Start your own company!

Start your own company!

nevver:

Now Newsweek is telling their story and asking why the rest of the coutnry doesn’t know that there is a serial killer in North Carolina killing Black women. Most interesting is when they discuss Nancy Grace’s decision to bump this story from her show. As you know, Nancy Grace is the pied piper of missing and murdered women and children.

But the national media did show some interest in the story after it was revealed that five women were murdered in or around the town.“Nancy Grace called and wanted to have some of us on her show, but before it aired there was a white woman from Georgia that went missing. The Nancy Grace show was canceled,” Knight says. HLN network, which broadcasts Nancy Grace, confirmed that Knight was booked for the show, which was ultimately canceled to profile the disappearance of Kristi Cornwell, a white woman from Blairsville, Ga., who went missing during an evening walk. Representatives from Nancy Grace told NEWSWEEK, “The booking was changed due to news that was breaking that day,” and emphasized the change had nothing to do with the race of the victim.

Coach, please stop. Everyday, every Saturday I feel like you’re walking over more broken glass with bloody feet. No one wanted to see it happen this way, but alas, the old adage is once again true…no one is bigger than the program. Even if you did build it. I wish I could be more sympathetic because of the awkward and sad situation that we all now share. But there you are every Saturday, throwing expired fertilizer on a pile of shit. –And I do feel bad saying that, but…
At this point you’re doing damage to the program beyond your departure. Recruiting has certainly suffered even with a ‘head coach in waiting’ on tap. There are a lot of good college programs for high caliber athletes to choose from now-a-days. Why come to a school on the decline when there are so many others on the upswing? Right now all Florida State has to offer is its history. And it ain’t enough anymore.
It’s just all so embarrassing and unfortunate…for everyone.
Admittedly, I harbor resentment after the whole Jeff Bowden debacle. Coach, you lost a lot of good will with that ridiculous situation. But at this point, it’s more.
What bothers me most is that it seems the fire in your belly is gone. I was pissed and saddened to watch some of the press conference after the USF loss. Some might say ‘oh that’s just Bobby being Bobby’…..but when you sat there and confoundingly said something like ‘well, they’re a lot better than I thought they were’. What?! When you leaned back in that chair and didn’t seem the slightest bit upset that your team was just, well, upset. There’s a problem. There’s a serious problem. Where’s the sense of urgency coach?? Perhaps it’s not your style, but this is your cue to say that ‘this is not acceptable’, ‘this is not representative of Florida State football’ and ‘this WILL change’. And say it convincingly.
But I guess we’ve learned, you don’t take cues.

"The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists — the Taliban and Hamas this..."

““The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists — the Taliban and Hamas this morning — in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize,” wrote DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse. “Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize — an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride — unless of course you are the Republican Party. The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It’s no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore - it’s an embarrassing label to claim.””

elspethjane:

The highest criminal court in Texas ruled Wednesday that a man facing the death penalty for murder could not have a new trial despite a love affair between the prosecutor and the judge who tried his case.

In a 6-to-3 decision, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals said the convicted man, Charles D. Hood, should have raised in earlier appeals the argument that the love affair had tainted his trial.

The affair had been rumored for years in Collin County, just north of Dallas, but was confirmed only a year ago when Mr. Hood’s lawyers compelled the judge, Verla Sue Holland, and the prosecutor, Thomas S. O’Connell Jr., to give depositions under oath. Both officials had since retired.

The case has stirred controversy across the country. Several former judges, prosecutors and experts on legal ethics have said that the affair makes it impossible to know if Mr. Hood received a fair trial and that it should be cause for a new proceeding.

But Wednesday’s decision overturned the findings of a district court judge who had found that Mr. Hood should be allowed a hearing on a new trial. The decision did not discuss whether the affair had prejudiced his first trial; instead, the court rejected Mr. Hood’s claim on the ground that he should have raised it when he first appealed his 1990 conviction. Frameworks wherein individuals place their content, not for everyone, but for their accumulated mass, which could be two or three or a few thousand, but which is rarely millions. If Whitney Houston can be all over mainstream media and only sell three hundred thousand albums in a country of three hundred million, do you really think the mainstream counts? The mainstream has become a sideshow!”

-
i love reading Bob Lefsetz’ rants. they are so good

bliptv:

Load time is one of the most important things on the Web. The faster something loads the more people view it, and the longer they spend with it. Google has found that just milliseconds in page load time improvement can make them tens of millions of incremental dollars.

For the past several weeks we’ve been slavishly focused on improving player start time. This is the amount of time it takes for the video to start playing after a viewer clicks play. I’m happy to announce that as of today we’re beating our initial goals for player start time improvement.

We’re going to be moving the goal posts soon. We’re not yet at the point where playback is or seems instant, which is where we want to be. We’ll be spending a lot more time on this. You’ll see the benefit in better viewer satisfaction, higher viewership and greater viewer engagement. There’s a lot of work left to do, but we’re on our way.
